Louis Edward Beener, Jr., was born Sept. 28, 1942, in St. Charles, the son of Louis and Virginia (Lamm) Beener. He was raised primarily in the St. Charles area and graduated from Dowling High School in Des Moines. Following graduation, Louis worked in the auto body business. He served in the Army National Guard for six years. On July 26, 1968, Louis was united in marriage to Retha Jane Trunnel in Papillion, Neb. The couple lived in Des Moines several years and Louis continued his craft in the auto business. They would later move to Prairie City and raise their family. Since 1993, Louis and Retha have lived in the Monroe area and operated a bait and tackle shop.
In his spare time, Louis enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially his trips to Missouri and Wyoming. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Louis passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at his home at the age of 77 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to honor Louis’ memory include his wife, Retha; children, Jeff (Dawn), Todd (Angie) and Greg (Heather); 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Mary, Connie, Dixie, Linda, Marsha and Holly; and many other family members and friends.
Louis has been cremated and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date with interment in the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
