Central Water Tower in Newton to be repainted

The Newton WaterWorks will be repainting the Central Water Tower located on Second Avenue South West between Second and Third Street South West. JR Stelzer Company of Lincoln, Neb. will be the contractor. The contractor will be staging at the tower at the end of this week.

The tower will be power washed prior to painting. The contractor is estimating that they will begin painting June 23 and 24. The start date for painting will be dictated by the weather. Parking on South Second Avenue West between Second and Third Street will be restricted as well as parking on Wes Second Street South between First and Second Avenue. The contractor may also close Second Avenue during painting but open up the street when not. The parking lot south of the tower will also be closed during this time.

The contractor will use a dry fall paint that is water based. The contractor tells us that if any paint spots contacts your vehicle it may be removed with warm soap and water or warm water at a car wash. The contractor will take as much precaution as possible, to prevent any issues. The expected duration of the project may take up to three weeks to complete. The Cardinal logo will be repainted on the tower.
