Cynthia Ann Warndorf, 64, of Newton, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at her home. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials in Cynthia’s name (checks to Sheena Caia) may be left at the funeral home.
Cynthia, the daughter of Robert George and Marilyn (Murphy) Tessner, was born March 15, 1955, in Chicago, Ill. She grew up and graduated from high school in Chicago. Later she went to cosmetology school. While living in Chicago, Cynthia worked for Motorola, in the service industry, and as a car transporter. In 1991, Cynthia was united in marriage with Danny Warndorf in Chicago. In 1997, they moved to Newton where Cynthia worked at Emerson Hough Schools and later in the kitchens at the Maytag Company and Hy-Vee.
Cynthia was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing, puzzles and spending time with her family. She loved to lead activities such as Bingo and potlucks at Suncrest Apartments. Cynthia had a great sense of humor and made everyone around her feel like family.
Those left to honor Cynthia’s memory are her two children, Shawn (Mindi) Warndorf and Sheena (Antonio) Caia of Newton; four grandchildren, Knox, Jett, Willow and Olivia; and two brothers, Robert (Nancy) Tessner of Morris, Ill., and John Tessner of Kellogg. He was preceded in death by her parents; and step-mother, Charlotte Tessner.
