Cora Lorraine "Coke" Williams, 61, of Colfax, passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, at Unity Point Methodist in Des Moines. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Burial will take place at Greencastle Cemetery. Visitation for Cora will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27 at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be left at coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The daughter of Harold E. and Catharine (Wade) Henderson, Cora was born Dec. 18, 1958, in Newton. She graduated from Mingo High School in 1977. She then went on to receive her nursing license. On Dec. 4, 1983, she was united in marriage to Mike Williams in Seymour, Texas. Cora worked as a cardiology nurse at Des Moines General, retiring in 2004. She was a member of the Pocahontas Lodge, the Colfax Fire Department and the Mingo Alumni Association. She enjoyed dog grooming, fishing, gardening, helping others in need and most of all time spending with her grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband Mike; children, Erika (Tyson) Schmidt, Cora (Mariano Galla) Johnson and Byron Johnson; and four grandchildren, Izaiah, Camden, Holsten and Sterling Wade. Also surviving are her siblings, Clifford (Doris) Henderson, Ronald (Coleen) Henderson, Charles R. (Mary Myer) Brown, Nora Borts and Marilyn (Richard Fite) Henderson. Preceding Cora in death were her parents; and siblings, Dorothy Henderson, Marcella Van Sant, Lavina K. Dawson and Julia Henderson.
