Gerald Dean Repp, 79, of Newton, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. A graveside service was at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to MercyOne Hospice may be left at the funeral home.
Gerald, the son of Carl and Irene (Gragg) Repp, was born June 5, 1940, in Albia. At the age of two, he moved to Newton with his family. He lived in Newton the rest of his life. Gerald was united in marriage with Betty Wolfe Jan. 11, 1971, in Colfax. He worked as an oiler for the Maytag Company for 26 years, retiring in 1992. Gerald was a member of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed woodworking, fixing small engines, camping and fishing. Most of all, Gerald’s grandchildren were the light of his life.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Betty Repp of Newton; children, Randy (Robin) Repp of Toccoa, Ga., Jim “Skip” (Ginger) Cousins of Bondurant, Lori (Eric) Waller of Newton, Rhonda (Joel) Paine of Laurel and Dawn (Steve) Crady of Amelia Island, Fla.; grandchildren, Thad, Ashley, Amber, Brian, Jordan, Alex, Katie, Skyler and Devan; his nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna (Maynard) Mettler, Kay Revell and Leon (Jane) Repp, all of Newton; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Patti Davis and Mary Lou Abel.
