Doris "Doree" Marie DeHaai, 76, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, at Accura Healthcare in Pleasantville. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Burial will take place at the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at the church. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be left for the family at coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Joe and Alta (Van Dusseldorp) Van Wyk, Doris was born Feb. 9, 1943, in Monroe. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1961. Doris took great pride in her two children, Teresa and Rodney, whom she shared with her former husband, Jack DeHaai. Before her illness, she attended the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Doris was an extremely social person. She loved to go to Prairie Meadows, sing karaoke in Monroe, go on day trips with her sisters, but most of all she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Teresa Birkenholtz (Joey Nichols); her son, Rodney (Cathy) DeHaai; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Keith) Cummins, Jill (Michael) Hansen, Parker DeHaai and Lucy DeHaai; and two great-grandchildren, Harrison LeGrand and Liam Hansen. Doris is also survived by grandchildren, Megan (Scott) Whitaker and their children, Rowan, Grayson and Carys and Trevor (Jessica) Birkenholtz and their children, Maya and Max. She is also survived by her siblings, Harlan (Sandy) Van Wyk, Helen (Darrell) Nolin, Dorothy (Jerry) Findlow, Donna (Lloyd) Steenhoek, Delmar (Diana) Van Wyk, Lois Telfer and Leona (Wade) Charls; two sisters-in-law, Marge Van Wyk and Joyce Van Wyk; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Howard and Harold Van Wyk; a son-in-law, Jim Birkenholtz; and a grandson-in-law, Nathan LeGrand.
