Car crashes into McDonald’s on First Avenue East

The McDonald’s located on the 700 block of First Avenue East was damaged Tuesday morning after a customer’s car failed to stop in a parking spot and collided into a wall near the east entrance of the building.

Bobbie Spoon, a shift manager at the Newton McDonald’s, said to her knowledge, no one sustained life-threatening injuries from the crash. However, the fast food restaurant now has a hole in the building where the vehicle made contact.

The impact affected interior damages to a nearby storage closet. The car had also hit a light pole upon backing up from the crash site.

Staff have since covered up the exposed damages with a gray tarp and traffic cones.

The Newton Police Department responded to thescene. Newton Daily News’ requests for further details were not made immediately available by presstime Wednesday morning.
