Mary Ann Meacham Dannen

Mary Ann Meacham Dannen, 85, of Newton, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, surrounded by the love of her family at Park Centre in Newton.

Mary Ann’s funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Newton Church Of The Way, 2306 S. Third Ave. E. in Newton. The family will greet friends following the funeral service and burial with a lunch at the church. Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in Mary Ann’s name, the memorials will be used for several projects that she wanted (please make checks payable to Judy Balbiani). The memorials may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home or at the church on the morning of the service. If you are mailing your memorial to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Dannen Family on the envelope.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Andy (Terry) Dannen of Newton, Susan (Mark) Hoffert of Newton and Judy (Eric) Balbiani of Ames; grandchildren, Amy (Steve) Wadstrom, Ryan (Shannon) Dannen, Sabrina (Scott) Smead, Samantha (Calvin) Jutting, Tyler (Katlyn) Balbiani, Brandon (Carolyn) Balbiani and Jordon Balbiani; 14 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Beverly Patterson of Rising Sun, Fran (Bob) Miller of Pleasantville and Michael Meacham of Lincoln, Neb., and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Dannen in 2010; and sister, Laura Lee Brady.
