Newton man arrested for child endangerment

A 33-year old Newton man is in custody on child endangerment charges.

Randy G. Dickerson was arrested July 19 after a witness reported he allegedly had shaken and thrown a 17-month-old child to the ground, according to a press release from the Newton Police Department. The child sustained minor injuries. The charges he faces is a Class D Felony.

Dickerson was transported to the Jasper County Jail where he remains on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. His preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. July 31.
