Pauline (Alford) Tabor of Newton, died Friday, May 24, 2019, at Park Centre in Newton. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30 at the funeral home. Memorials to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League can be left at the funeral home.

Pauline, the daughter of Clint W. and Pearl B. (Bollinger) Alford, was born in Jasper County. She was a lifelong resident of Newton and a graduate of Newton High School. Pauline was united in marriage with Bob Tabor Feb. 16, 1947, in Athena, Kan. She worked for the Newton Police Department as a meter maid for 16 years. Pauline had been a member of the First Baptist Church, the Red Hat Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and a 27-year member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, quilting, making pottery and playing Fast Track with her grandkids.

Pauline is survived by her children, Richard “Rick” (Midge) Tabor of Des Moines, Pam (Darrell) Smith of Newton and Randy Tabor of Newton; grandchildren, Troy (Amber) Tabor of Newton, Robin Southern of Newton, Niki Stephen of Newton, Tina Sanders of Grinnell, Ryan (Danielle) Tabor of Newton and Matt (Esther) Tabor of Owatonna, Minn.; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; her sister, Lois Timmons of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; daughter, Paula Jean Ervin; three brothers; two sisters; and a son-in-law, Rick Ervin.
