Linda Jean Ross, the daughter of Lyman Rex and Marjorie May (Holmes) Emerson, was born April 23, 1944, in Winterset. Linda graduated from high school in Atlantic.
On May 1, 1966, Linda was united in marriage with Ronald Ross. Ron would precede her in death on June 19, 1996. On May 9, 1998, Linda was united in marriage with Michael Guinn. Michael would precede her in death on June 22, 2018. Linda dedicated her life to her husbands and family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton, the Skiff Auxiliary and PEO Chapter HS and the YMCA. Linda was active in her many interests which included quilting, line dancing, biking, book club and mah jong.
Linda died Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the Pella Comfort House in Pella. She was 74 years old. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, Ron and Michael.
Those left to honor Linda’s memory include her son, Jim (Tricia) Ross of Coralville; her daughter, Sherry Ross of Pella; her grandchildren, Hayley (Nic) Rude, Samuel Ross and Audrey Denekas; her stepdaughters, Suzanne Guinn and Michele Guinn; and her sister, Connie (Gary) Shebeck of Grinnell.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9 at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton and immediately following the memorial service during lunch. Memorials may be designated to the Pella Comfort House or the Infusion Center at the Skiff Specialty Clinic and may be left at the church or at Pence-Reese Funeral Home.
