‘Munsters’ star to be part of Newton Fest 2019

Organizers of the annual event announced Butch Patrick, who played Eddie Munster in the 1960’s TV hit “The Munsters,” will be making a special appearance during the Newton Chamber of Commerce Cool Car Show on June 8 in Newton.

“We are very excited to have the one and only Eddie Munster as part of Newton Fest 2019,” said Jessica Lowe Vokes, one of the event’s organizers. “Butch Patrick travels around the country meeting fans. He has a huge following on social media and in the Comic Con circuit. We think people will really get a kick out of meeting this iconic TV star.”

Patrick is also bringing his famous rides — the Munster Koach and the Drag-u-la — to be on display during the car show. Fans will have the chance to meet Patrick, get pictures with the star, view his “celebrity” cars and purchase autographs.

“Adding the Munster cars to the Chamber’s Cool Car Show adds just one more reason for people to come to the car show off,” said Amanda Price, executive director of Newton Chamber and a member of the Newton Fest committee. “This is such a great addition to the weekend and we hope people from around Iowa will come to meet Butch and stay for other fun events planned.”

Patrick has been part of TV and movies since he was 7 years old and appeared on classics like “Bonanza,” “Mister Ed,” “Lidsville,” “My Three Sons,” “The Monkees” and of course “The Munsters.” His appearance is sponsored by Newton Fest Committee.

“This is just the beginning of what we have planned for our fifth annual Newton Fest,” Lowe Vokes said. “The committee has been working hard to plan a bigger and better Newton Fest since the celebration wrapped in June. We think people are going to really enjoy what we have in store for them for 2019.”
