Alice Faye Robinson, 85, of rural Baxter, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation for Alice will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 at the Bethany United Church of Christ outside of Baxter. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at the church with Pastor Paul Johnson officiating. A private family burial in Bethany Cemetery in rural Baxter will follow the service.
Alice was born Feb. 25, 1933, in rural Baxter, to Leroy and Clara (Traeger) Krampe. She attended Baxter Community School, graduating with the class of 1951. She married Gerald “Gunny” Robinson Oct. 5, 1951, and they were married for 62 years. The couple farmed near Baxter and raised their children on the farm.
Alice was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ near Baxter, where she served as secretary and organist and was part of Bethany Women’s Fellowship for many years. She was also a member of the National Farmers Organization, Grange, Ever Ready Club and Red Hat Society. Alice worked the polls for Malaka and Independence Townships over the years. She was a very strong supporter of the Baxter community and school.
Alice is survived by her three sons, Jim (Brenda), John and Jay; and two daughters, Jean and Jolene (Robin) Harlow; nine grandchildren, Jason (Jenny) and Cory (Jennifer) Robinson, Josh and Jessica Robinson, Eric, Billy and Ryan Harlow and Julia (Kyle) Patterson and Lee Robinson; two great-grandchildren, Cade and Alec (Cory & Jennifer); sisters, Edith Allspach and Marjorie (Ed) Frohbieter; sisters-in-law, Erika Krampe and Doris “Jo” Chandler; cousin-in-law, Louis Saak; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jerry; sister, Joanne (Dale) Tipton; brothers, Art (Vera) Krampe and Armin Krampe; brothers-in-law, Richard Albee, George Allspach and Jim Chandler; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Marshall, Dorothy McEachern and Betty (Harold) Roberts; and niece, Jennifer Smith.
Memorials can be given to Bethany United Church of Christ or the Baxter Education Foundation.
