Councilman Beiner resigning from seat

Prairie City councilman Bob Beiner is stepping down from city council. Beiner formally submitted his resignation with an effective date of Sept. 30.

“After much though, prayers and many discussions with our family, we have made the decision to relocate to Newton,” Beiner said in a Facebook post.

Beiner has served on the council since being elected in 2015.

“He’ll be sadly missed but the decision he is making is best for his family,” mayor Chad Allegar said. “I wish him the best on his new journey.”

To fill the open seat, Allegar said his recommendation would be to appoint a temporary council member to fill the position in the interim. The seat will be up for election in 2019.

“It has been such an honor serving this community and my family and I will miss the people that make Prairie City such a great place to live,” Beiner said.
