Robert L. “Bob” Schultz, 88, of Newton, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Skiff Medical Center. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 at the First Assembly of God Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials to the First Assembly of God Church may be left at the church the morning of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Bob, the son of Alfred F. and Mary M. (Teller) Schultz, was born June 28, 1929, in Newton. He grew up in Newton, and served his country in the U.S. Air Force, which began his life-long love of aviation. Bob was united in marriage with Vivian Browning June 30, 1956, in Newton. He worked at Solar Aviation prior to the company’s relocation to California and then worked for his brother Ken’s electrical business. Bob later worked and retired as a production supervisor from Midland Manufacturing in Monroe.
Bob was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and the VFW Post 1655. He enjoyed airplanes including model airplanes and going to air shows. Bob also loved spending time with his family.
Those left to honor Bob’s memory are his wife, Vivian Schultz of Newton; children, Kelvin (Julie) Schultz of Newton, Eric Schultz (fiancé, Josephine Akofe) of Tracy, Calif., and Aaron (Laura) Schultz of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren, Josh (Donna) Schultz, Amanda Schultz, Samuel Schultz, Sydney Schultz and Alexandra Schultz; his eight great-grandchildren; and siblings, Kenneth (Fran) Schultz of Newton, Dorothy Schultz of Des Moines and Margaret (Ed) Miller of Overland Park, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond Schultz.
