Nancy (Nichols) Lindstrom, 81, of Newton, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service was at 11 a.m. Monday, March 27 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials in Nancy’s name may be left at the funeral home. Nancy, the daughter of Stacy and Frances (Stewart) Nichols, Jr., was born Feb. 18, 1936, in Marshalltown. She graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1954. Nancy was united in marriage with Richard Lindstrom Aug. 31, 1968, in Des Moines. She worked as a field educator for the Maytag Company in Newton, retiring in 1994. Nancy was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was active in the choir, bell ringing and had served as the wedding coordinator. She also volunteered for various organizations in the Newton area. Nancy enjoyed crafting and sports — especially baseball — and was an avid New York Yankees fan and she also liked the Chicago Cubs.
Those left to honor Nancy’s memory include her children, Brenda (Edward) Smith of Urbandale, Jim (Deb) Lindstrom of Hartford and Mark (Cindy) Lindstrom of Newton; her grandchildren, Chad Greenwood, Josh Lindstrom, Lindsey Greenwood, Carol Anne (Jake) Snowden and Adam (Brittany) Smith; her great-grandchild, Boone Snowden; and her siblings, Stanley (Mary) Nichols, Neil (Norma) Nichols, Lyle (Jan) Nichols and Janet Nichols. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Richard.
