Patricia “Pat” Hybl, 88, of Newton, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at Newton Health Care.

Pat was born May 27, 1928, near Colfax, the daughter of Donald and Goldie Blanche (Parker) Thatcher. She was a graduate of the Newton Senior High. In April of 1946, Pat was united in marriage with Robert James Hybl in Colfax. To this union three sons were born, Bob, Chuck and Tom. She was employed at Newton Manufacturing Company, at an area bank, at Newton Senior High and for the State of Iowa at the Newton Correctional Facility. Pat was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She enjoyed all crafts, volunteering at Skiff Medical Center and Colfax American Legion. Pat was a member of the Newton Congregational United Church of Christ and the Tri-T’s.

Pat is survived by her sons, Bob Hybl of West Des Moines, Chuck and his wife Pam Hybl of Wichita, Kan., and Tom and his wife Cheryl Hybl of Clayton, Ga.; her six grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; and her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert J. Hybl; a brother, Robert Thatcher; and her sisters, Marilyn Wilson and Jane Clymer.

A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4 at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Pat’s family wants to thank those at Newton Village, Newton Health Care, her old 12th Street neighbors and Dr. Chan, for being part of Pat’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Newton Congregational United Church of Christ in Pat’s name or a charity of your choosing.
