Des Moines event to sponsor culinary scholarship

Des Moines Wine Festival Foundation Scholarship

One of Des Moines’ premier food and wine events is helping fund the training and education of future culinary professionals. The Des Moines Wine Festival Foundation is sponsoring three, $2,000 Des Moines Area Community College Iowa Culinary Institute scholarships starting in the fall of 2016.

“DMACC is proud to partner with an organization that elevates the culinary and hospitality industry in Central Iowa,” DMACC President Rob Denson said. “The generosity of the Des Moines Wine Festival Foundation will help give students access to a quality education and world renowned chefs at the DMACC Iowa Culinary Institute.”

The Des Moines Wine Festival Foundation is a nonprofit corporation and its signature event, Winefest Des Moines, is a week of food and wine events. Winefest 2015 featured an interactive dinner, celebrity chef demonstrations, wine pairing dinners and much more. Since 2003, the event has raised more than $400,000 for local charities and cultural organizations. Winefest 2016 is scheduled for June 4 -11.

The DMACC ICI Des Moines Wine Festival Foundation Scholarship will support second year students that demonstrate a talent and passion for expanding the culinary arts.
