Barbara Ann “Bob” Stiffler, 85, of Newton, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Skiff Medical Center. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service and again after the service with a coffee time at the funeral home. Memorials to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League may be left at the funeral home.

Barb, the daughter of Matthew Madison and Sarah (McDonald) Lindsey, was born Nov. 18, 1930, in Mingo. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1949. Barb lived most of her life in Newton where she was the deputy clerk for the Jasper County Clerk’s Office for 30 years, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed embroidery work, reading and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Barb was a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

Those left to honor Barb’s memory are her children, Tony Ver Dught of Warsaw, Ill., and Jodi (Duane) Rozendaal of Newton; grandchildren, Ethan Ver Dught of Warsaw, Josh (Jenna) Ver Dught of Glenn Carbon, Ill., Trent Brisel of Newton, Brad (Liz) Rozendaal of Newton, and Todd Rozendaal of Des Moines; her great-grandchildren, Hunter, Peyton, Lane, Haylee and Jovie; her very good friend and adopted daughter from a different mother, Wyvonne Bell of Newton; sister, Darlene Willson of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and many brothers and sisters.
