Hope For The Warriors honors local veterans and military families through activities at Iowa Speedway

In conjunction with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) and United States Auto Club (USAC) event weekend at Iowa Speedway, June 19-20, Hope For The Warriors will continue to honor local service members, veterans and military families through motorsports.

With 50 service members, veterans and military family members in attendance at Friday night’s NCWTS race, Hope For the Warriors will also invite fans to participate in “Operation: Care Packages” throughout the event weekend.

Continuing their mission to restore hope for service members and veterans, Hope For The Warriors will invite fans to visit their display to assemble care packages. These will be distributed to veterans and military families in the Greater Newton area.

“Operation Care Packages” will take place at the Hope For The Warriors display outside the Newton Club on Friday afternoon at 4 until 4:30 p.m., and again on Saturday morning at 10:30 until 11 a.m.

In a private event on Friday night, Hope For The Warriors will host 50 service members, veterans and military family members for the NCWTS race. The families will have an opportunity to connect with each other during a special afternoon cookout hosted by Hope For The Warriors, before moving to the grandstands to watch the American Ethanol 200.

“Mutual relationships with both NASCAR and Casey’s General Store led to a great opportunity for Hope For The Warriors to host service members, veterans and their families during the race weekend at Iowa Speedway,” commented Travis Hanson, Hope For The Warriors, Senior Director of Sports and Recreation. “It’s really about giving back to the people of Iowa. The entire Midwest region, Iowa included, has shown tremendous support for Hope For The Warriors over the last 10 years, but it seems it’s a rarity that they’re championed for their efforts. So this weekend’s event at Iowa Speedway is all about thanking that community. To have a standalone event highlighting the people who help us so much, and to give back to them through ‘Operation Care Packages’ and bringing them to the track is really what this weekend is all about.”
