Morris D. Van Baale

Morris Van Baale of Newton, died Friday morning, March 6, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral service for Morris will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. A visitation with the family will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Morris’ name: are being designated to his family. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Morris Dale Van Baale, 66, the son of Fred and Viola (Fleming) Van Baale, was born Jan. 23, 1949, in Des Moines. He was a graduate of the Colfax High School, Class of 1967. Morris had served his country proudly with the US Army 517th Artillery during the Vietnam era, and was selected soldier of the month twice. He was a very dedicated employee, as a production manager at Progress Industries in Newton for 34 years.

On May 21, 1993, Morris was united in marriage with Patricia Joyce Stuart in Newton. He devoted his life to his family, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating, NASCAR, football, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and bowling.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to honor Morris’ memory include his wife, Pat; a daughter Amy Schilling; two step-daughters, Lisa Glasford and Jill Rhoden; six grandsons; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; a brother Glen Van Baale of Colfax; and his many friends.
