Michael Dean “Mike” Hubler, the son of Robert and Evelyn (Wickett) Hubler, was born Nov. 4, 1947, in Newton. Mike served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as an automobile salesman at the Ford and Chevy dealers in Newton and for the Vernon Company in the traffic department. On Nov. 2, 1985, Mike was united in marriage with Sharen Lea Culver at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. Mike was an avid golfer and always enjoyed boating out on Rock Creek. Mike was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Newton Post 1655 and the American Legion, Newton Post 111.
Mike died on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was 66 years old. Mike was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Dennis.
Those left to honor Mike’s memory include his wife, Sharen of Kellogg; his daughter, Julie Lee of Denver, Colo.; a grandson, Freedom; his mother, Evelyn of Newton; his brothers, Pat Hubler of Colorado and Tim Hubler of Austria; and his many friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30 at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home.
Memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Project and may be left at the funeral home.
