Grace Wallace, 96, of Newton died on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Newton Healthcare.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Following a lunch, burial will be held at Vandalia Cemetery. Memorials in Grace’s name may be left at the funeral home.
Grace, the daughter of James and Rebecca (Pulver) Daugherty, was born on Sept. 13, 1917, in Vandalia, Iowa. She was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Grace was united in marriage with Russell G. “Red” Wallace on Feb. 7, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa. Grace was a homemaker and farmer’s wife. She enjoyed cooking and vegetable and flower gardening. Grace was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend.
Those left to honor Grace’s memory are her two daughters, Marilyn Conrad of Newton and Kay (Richard) Hagedorn of Newton; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Walter Daugherty of Altoona; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Red in 2007; great-grandson, Ethan Moore in infancy; son-in-law, Doug Conrad; a brother, Glen Daugherty; and her sister, Nola Ingle.
