On March 9, the Newton FFA competed at the South Central District leadership contest in Earlham.
Of those competing, the Chapter Program team of Ellie Rethmeier, Lizzie Stock, and Josie Jacobs are the only ones advancing to state with a gold ranking.
Also receiving gold were Jacob Smith, Troy Daehler, Cooper McDermott, and Derek Damman for Greenhand Quiz. Tapanga Birkenholtz, Sam Cutts, and Macy Leonard also received gold in Chapter Quiz.
Robbie Guthrie was awarded gold and is an alternate to the state competition in Ag Sales while Ellie Rethmeier is the alternate for state with her gold ranking Secretary’s book.
The parliamentary procedure team of Justin Ruiz Pittman, Jarret Horn, Jacob Arrowood, Michael Barr, Cole Doerring, and Jacob Huizenga received a silver ranking as did Connor Claypool for the Treasurer’s book.
Benton Vest was awarded a bronze ranking in the creed speaking event. The Newton FFA would like to congratulate all these members.
State competition begins April 22.
