Christopher “Chris” Innis, 38, of Newton passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at Newton Health Care.
A funeral service for Chris will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at the funeral home, and 1 p.m. until services on Friday. Memorials are being designated in Chris’ name, and may be left at the funeral home.
Chris, the son of Floyd and Rosemary (Scribner) Innis Jr., was born March 6, 1974, in Grinnell. He was a graduate of the Newton Senior High, Class of 1995.
A lifelong resident of the Newton area, Chris was employed at the Newton School Bus Barn and Progress Industries.
Chris had devoted his life to his family and friends. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League and enjoyed the outdoors, Hawkeye Athletics and NASCAR. Chris was a kind and warm-hearted young man and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Floyd Sr. & Barbara Innis; maternal grandparents, Verle “Scrib” and Lu Scribner; his uncle, Ronald Innis; and a niece, Eden Gaps.
Those left to honor Chris’ memory include his parents: Floyd Jr. and Rosemary Innis of Newton; a sister Leslie J. Innis of Des Moines; several aunts and uncles; many cousins and his good friends.
