DHS arrests multiple subjects at Newton Family Restaurant

The Newton Police Department assisted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in the arrest of multiple suspects at The Newton Family Restaurant this morning.

Witnesses at the scene said that multiple people were taken away in hand-cuffs, but officials are not releasing the exact number of subjects arrested or information regarding their identities at this time.

Newton Police Lt. Wes Breckenridge was on scene and said that the federal agency was leading the investigation, and the Newton Family Restaurant is ceasing operation for the remainder of Thursday.

DHS Public Relations officer Shawn Neudauer said DHS would be releasing a short statement later this afternoon.
