Lois Strickland, 93, of Mayflower died Friday, March 16, 2012. She was born Sunday, Sept. 1, 1918, in Vilonia, Ark., to the late Tavner Powell and the late Fressie James Powell. She was a homemaker, loved flowers, gardening, cooking, sewing, fishing, playing Rook, but most of all she loved having her family around. She attended First Baptist Church in Mayflower.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Fourn Newberry, her second husband, Zane L. Strickland; siblings, Leonia Powell, Charlcy Lenz, Aline Harris, Maedean Powers, Cleota Hentzel, Ruby Powell, Gladys Bailey, Tavner Lee Powell.

She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Rick Strickland (Marsha) of Baxter, Iowa; daughters, Carol Hackney of Conway, Brenda Damman of Newton, Iowa and Wanda Lammey (Dick) of Lambs Grove, Iowa; sisters, Veota Hird of Conway and Betty Harris of Vilonia; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

A funeral service and visitation were on Tuesday, March 20, in the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel (501) 327-7727. Interment was at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com.
