Newton FFA competes at South Central Districts

The Newton FFA Chapter competed at South Central District contests on March 5 in Moulton.

The students competed in seven different contests. In chapter program, Shelby Gressley, Ashley Shaw and James Leonard received silver. In ag broadcasting, Brady Van Sickle received sliver. In ag sales, Kole Wilson received silver. In job interview, Alex Cleverley received silver. In parliamentary procedure, Robbie Guthrie, Collin Reynolds, Ryan Hitchler, Kristen Samson and Katie Metz received silver.

The Greenhand Quiz team received second place and was led by Ellie Rethmeier, followed by Lizzie Stock, Morgan Arrowood and Daniel VanGilst. The Chapter Quiz team received fifth place and was led by Tiffany Larson, followed by Evan Rethmeier, Ryan Hitchler and Collin Reynolds.

Newton FFA’s Chapter Books were submitted to districts for judging. The treasurer’s book submitted by Nate Lenz received bronze. The reporter’s book submitted by Evan Rethmeier and James Leonard received silver. The secretary’s book submitted by Alex Cleverley received gold and will be advancing to the State FFA Convention to be judged.
