BLOOMFIELD — Harold Dean Critchlow, 64, of Bloomfield, formerly of Newton, died at 3:50 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born April 26, 1945, in Ottumwa to Harold E. and Elizabeth Bell Critchlow. He married Diana Powell on Nov. 26, 1977.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1963, he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked for John Morrell & Co. and for Maytag Corporation, from which he retired. He then worked for Barker’s in Keosauqua, Southern Iowa Diesel and the Davis County Hospital.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Vietnam Veterans of America.
Surviving is his wife, Diana; a son, Harold Lee Critchlow of Ashland, Mo.; a daughter, Carrie Ann Critchlow of Tulare, Calif.; two granddaughters, Madison and Chloe; two sisters, Geraldine Hubbartt of Ottumwa and Connie Wilkening of Hedrick; and a brother, Gary W. Critchlow of Largo, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolee Clark.
His body has been cremated. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. Memorials may be made to the family for his grandchildren’s education.
