Baker, Barcus to wed

Jeanna Marie Baker and Douglas Paul Barcus are happy to announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. Both are Newton residents and members of First United Methodist Church.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Jerry and Lila June Talbott of Mt. Union. She is employed as a Marketing Assistant at the Vernon Company in Newton.

Her fiancé is the son of Charles and Ruby Barcus of San Diego, Calif. He is currently enrolled in the Radiology Technician Program at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. He will graduate in August of 2010. He was a former Maytag employee for 20 years.

The couple’s wedding is planned for Sept. 5. A small, private ceremony will be held in the First United Methodist Church chapel.

A reception following the ceremony will be hosted at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Newton. Family and friends are invited to attend.
