World War II veteran Lawrence Halter of Newton pauses for reflection in front of the World War II Memorial during the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. on Wednesday. The trip, which allowed another 14 veterans from Jasper County to visit the monuments in our nation’s capital, was sponsored by Hy-Vee. Doug Bishop, adjutant at the American Legion post in Newton, said fund-raising efforts are under way for another Honor Flight in the spring.
