CK International named Iowa Exporter of the Year

Bill and May-May Ng were the recipients of the Exporter Excellence Award presented by the Greater Des Moines Partnership, the Business Record and RSM McGladrey of Des Moines.
The Ngs have been long time supporters of several Newton organizations, utilized the Newton Intermodal on a daily basis in shipping agricultural products to Asia and attempted to establish their business in Newton. CK International is now the world’s third largest exporter of fruits and vegetables to Southeast Asia, the largest exporter of pig skins to Asian tanneries and exports other agricultural products to Mexico, Canada, Europe and Asia. The Ngs have developed an Asian business and cultural center in West Des Moines, which is now the U. S. office location for Far East Leather of Shanghai, which manufactures 750 million pairs of shoes for nine labels. The company supplies all the leather for both Nike and Puma shoes. CK International also provides logistics services for ensuring safe rail and shipping of their agricultural products to world markets.
“The Ngs have set the standard by which all agricultural product exporters can be measured,” said Sen. Dennis Black. “To my knowledge, they have never had a dissatisfied customer.”
