Friday night fighting returns to Newton
The Cedar Valley Fighting Association returns with another edition of “Friday Night Fights” on Friday, Nov. 13, at 8 p.m. at the VFW in Newton.
The CVFA will feature some of the top competitors. The event will include three feature bouts as well as an amateur sign up division.
The first feature bout will pit Doug Yansky against Jayson “Hobbit” Pringle. Yansky is a 46-year-old Tae Kwon Do artist from Iowa City. He comes in with a record of 1-0 and one draw. Pringle is a freestyle fighter from Pella and has a record of 10-5.
Also set to compete will be up and coming fighter Adrian McMullen out of Washington. McMullen comes in with a record of 7-2.
The main event will feature CVFA champion Andy Sanders of Dubuque as he takes on Chris “The Monster” Tish in a non title bout. Sanders is 5-foot-9, weighs 185 pounds and comes in with a record of 20-7 and three draws. Tish stands 6-foot-9 and weighs 290 pounds. Tish comes in with a record of 5-2. There is more than a 100 pound weight difference between the two.
Other competing for the night will be local fighters Wes Barton, Robert Anderson, Tom Kephart, Aubrey Bailey and many more.
There also will be an amateur sign-up division in which local competitors can sign up to compete. Interested participants must be at the VFW between 5 and 7 p.m. the night of the fights to register.
Advance tickets are $15 and are available at the VFW in Newton.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first fight is set to start at 8.
