Kinart, 82, of Monroe died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. Memorial services for Mr. Kinart will be on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Monroe Emergency Unit. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com. The son of Elmer and Mary (Fisher) Kinart, Roland was born on Jan. 3, 1927, in Harbor City, Calif. Roland proudly served his country as a member of the United States Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1949. While with the Marines, Roland traveled around the world three times. He also proudly served as a member of the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954. On Aug. 5, 1955, Roland was united in marriage with Beryl Simpson at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Beryl Kinart; his daughter, Tina Marie Parks, and Roland was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Wanda Mockenhaupt, and one step-brother, Bill Noah. Roland was known as a “handy-man” as he worked in maintenance most of his life. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, backpacking, muzzleloaders and he even had a beer can collection. Roland’s most prized hobby though was the railroad industry. He was a railroad enthusiast and even had a large model railroad display in his basement. Roland was a member of the Railcar Club and Volkswagen Club. Comments
