Central College hosts program on ‘Turning Away From Hate’By Special to the Daily NewsPELLA — Central College’s intercultural life office will host speaker TJ Leyden on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. in Van Emmerik Studio, located on the second floor of the Maytag student center. Leyden advocates and promotes finding common ground with all peoples, regardless of race, creed or sex. Leyden’s presentation, “Turning Away From Hate,” includes the speaker’s own narrative of a life spent promoting hate and the destruction of an entire people. He used to run his own Neo-Nazi skinhead group in California and recruited young teens to join him. Now he preaches acceptance and love for all humankind and helps train the government on Neo-Nazi activities. Leyden has talked to more than 650,000 students nationwide. “Turning Away From Hate” is sponsored by the intercultural life office and is free and open to the public. Comments
