NDC honoring local businesses

Special to Daily News The Business Development Committee of the Newton Development Corporation (NDC) will be hosting a Salute to Business and Industry Luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 9 at the SODEXHO Conference Center, 600 N. Second Ave. W. in Newton. A buffet lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. until noon followed by the program from noon to 1 p.m. Steve Lockard, president and CEO of TPI Composites will give the keynote address. Following his remarks, a new business and an existing business will be recognized for their investments in the Newton community. In addition, NDC will present the Jim Tyler Entrepreneurial Award to a local entrepreneur who exemplifies and supports Newton’s innate culture of entrepreneurship. “So often we take for granted our local businesses and industry. We fail to realize the number of jobs they provide and the investments they make in our community are the foundation of our success. This is just one way we like to annually thank our businesses,” said Bev Price, NDC board chair. The cost to attend the luncheon is $15. Those wishing to attend should R.S.V.P. and send a check by Monday, Oct. 6, to the Newton Development Corporation, 600 N. Second Ave. W., Suite P., Newton 50208.
