C-M wins baseball opener, 12-0

MELCHER — The Colfax-Mingo baseball team started its season on a strong note, beating Melcher-Dallas 12-0 Tuesday in five innings in non-conference action. The game was called after five innings, as the 10-run rule was implemented. Notching 10 hits on the night, the Tigerhawks jumped on the board quickly with two runs in the first, then added four in the second for an early 6-0 lead. C-M added three more runs each in the fourth and fifth innings. “I thought for the first game we did a good job at the plate,” C-M coach Jeff Lindsay said. “We were a little anxious at times, but that’s normal for the start of the season.
