Weld, Sanders, Buttigieg coming to Newton

Republican and Democratic candidates plan campaign stops

More presidential candidates are coming to Jasper County.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld will be making his first appearance in Newton beginning 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Uncle Nancy’s Coffeehouse & Eatery for a quick lunch and meeting with voters. Before that, the Republican candidate will stop by Berg Middle School to speak with civics class students.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., will hold a town hall at 1 p.m. Saturday at Berg Middle School. Doors open at noon. Sanders will be accompanied by U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, during his visit to Newton.

Former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg will also hold a town hall 11:45 a.m. Jan. 15 at Legacy Plaza in Newton.
