• A Bake Sale will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jasper County Courthouse in Newton. Proceeds go to support the Jasper County Elderly Nutrition program.

• One Month to Live women’s study will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hephzibah House, 721 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Newton Rotary Club will meet at noon Tuesday at DMACC Newton Campus upstairs banquet room. The program will be presented by John Billingsley on The Legend of Jasper and Newton. • Jasper County Retired School Personnel will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Colfax Historical Museum. Hear the history of Colfax and its people.

• The Newton Noon Kiwanis will meet at noon Wednesday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N., for lunch and a program titled "Fifth Wednesday Fun" by the program committee. • Battlefield of the Mind women’s study will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hephzibah House, 721 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• JCFB is hosting a JCARL adoption at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jasper County Farm Bureau, 425 First Ave. E. in Newton. October is national adopt a shelter dog month and the Jasper County Farm Bureau taking it a step farther in order to help not just dogs, but all animals at the local shelter. Throughout the month of October, JCFB will be accepting donations to take to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society to help care for the animals while they wait to be adopted.

• Alcoholics Anonymous Beginners support group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.

• Principles for Life, a single moms’ group, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton. Kids program available.

• Jasper County Community Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the YMCA in Newton.

• The Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 151 60th Ave. in Prairie City will host gospel music with the Punches Family, a family group from Fredricktown, Mo., at 7 p.m. Wednesday at. There will be a time of fellowship & refreshments following.
