Daily News brings back familiar face

The Newton Daily News has a familiar face back in its newsroom. Troy Hyde has been hired back to the sports department and will serve as a sports writer for the second time in his career.

Hyde, who officially joined the Daily News on Monday, is a 2003 Grand View University graduate with degrees in journalism and mass communication.

Hyde has more than 10 years experience in the business and previously served as a sports writer for the Daily News from November 2007 to August 2010.

In 2010, Hyde left the newspaper business to pursue a family and, after marrying his wife in September 2011, returned to the field in 2012, serving as the assistant sports editor at the Marshalltown Times-Republican for more than two years.

He will primarily be responsible for coverage of the athletic teams at Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, PCM and Colfax-Mingo.
