Berg Elementary finishes ‘Great Cause Challenge’

Several Berg Elementary School staff members put on a skit for the student body on Friday to celebrate a number of things, including the school’s completion of the “The Great Cause Challenge.”The Great Cause Challenge has been taking place among Newton’s four elementary schools since the beginning of the school year, and Berg was the final participating school. Students at Berg spent all of last week acquiring donations for the Salvation Army Food Pantry in Newton and wound up with 510 items, which amounted to almost 400 pounds of food. This drive also coincided with the school’s Red Ribbon Week activities and the Newton vs. Newton food drive competition.
