Newton Police Department

• Marty A. McConnell, 31, of Newton, is charged with two counts of third-degree burglary after authorities arrested him on a warrant in the 500 block of North Second Avenue East at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday. On Sept. 21 McConnell took a purse and key from an unlocked vehicle in the victims driveway. He returned on Sept. 26 and committed burglary at the residence. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Samuel D. A. Shedlock, 21, of Newton, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities pulled over his vehicle in the 100 block of South Eighth Avenue West at 11:21 p.m. Thursday. Officers saw a van driving at high speed and after contacting them, noticed a smell of alcohol coming from Shedlock. He also had red, watery, bloodshot eyes and had a BAC of .170. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Cody J. Wey, 25, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over in the 100 block of West Eighth Street North at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday. He was pulled over for speeding. He was cited and released to appear.
