lection important for Jasper County

Randy Ervin
Newton

I have heard several people lately say, “Why take the time to vote? It’s just a midterm election.” This is not just another midterm election. This election is very important to us at the national, state and specifically at the local level.

We need to look at the people that will help Newton be the growing, inviting, thriving community that we all want it to be. On the national level, Joni Ernst is exactly what we need — a mom, a soldier and a leader. On the state level, Chaz Allen is the best bet. We have seen him go to bat for Jasper County and Newton before, and I think he will continue on with that battle.

The other race is Pat Payton challenging Dan Kelley. This race is too close to call, and we need everyone to get involved and learn the facts. Pat Payton has run a great race. He has done it in the correct way — knocking on doors, having local fundraisers and truly explaining what he can do for Newton and Jasper County. In all the times I have heard Patrick speak, he never once “slung mud” at his opponent. Patrick talked about Newton being a Main Street community, a place where he has raised his children, and is proud of what Newton has accomplished.

This midterm election is very important to Newton and Jasper County.  Please get out and vote, because your vote can make a difference. This election, please join me in voting for the people that can best help us in Jasper County. Specifically, I would ask you to vote for Patrick Payton — a leader from our community, and the right person to represent Jasper County and its communities.
