Iowa investigators probe Johnson County shooting

SOLON — The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says it will investigate an officer-involved shooting in Johnson County.

The division said in a news release Tuesday that Johnson County deputies and Iowa State Patrol troopers on Monday night found a man near Swisher who’d been reported as suicidal.

The man was identified as 32-year-old Bradley McNeese. The division says McNeese drove away from the area, with officers in pursuit.

The chase ended near Solon, where a deputy and McNeese exchanged gunshots. McNeese was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. The deputy wasn’t injured.

The division says the deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave. The deputy’s name hasn’t been released.
