Thank you to blood donor volunteers

To the editor,

Thanks to all the wonderful blood donors who volunteered their time to make a life-saving donation at the recent Kellogg and Killduff Communities blood drive.  A total of 32 people registered to donate blood and 28 units of blood were collected at this blood drive on Sept. 9.

A special thanks also goes out to Marilyn Berthelsen and the Kellogg Lions Club and to Richland Grange members who participated in organizing and sponsoring this blood drive.   Committed volunteers are key to maintaining the blood supply in our local communities.

The Blood Center of Iowa joined operations with Siouxland Community Blood Bank in April, 2010 to become LifeServe Blood Center. As the 15th largest blood center in the country, LifeServe Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 100 hospitals located across Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. LifeServe is committed to savings lives by providing premier service to volunteer blood donors and access to a safe, quality blood supply for hospitals and patients. Eligible donors must be at least 16 years old, should weigh at least 120 pounds and should be in general good health. For more information about blood donation or to schedule an appointment to blood call 800-287-49403 or visit www.lifeserve.org
