The School Improvement Advisory Committee — the group tasked with advising the Newton Community School District Board of Education — advised the board to reconfigure the Emerson Hough building into an elementary school at tonight's meeting.
Paula Klosterboer a district teacher and SIAC member, told the board the committee made this recommendation based upon a number of factors, including parent and teacher surveys, enrollment projections, parents desired classroom size per grade level and an architectural study.
"We believe this facility is needed, "Klosterboer said.
