Authorities investigating submerged vehicle

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is investigating a submerged vehicle discovered Wednesday morning in rural Jasper County.

Sheriff's Deputy Mark Headington said he didn't think the vehicle was occupied, but was waiting for a crew to remove the sports utility vehicle from under the bridge commonly known as Byer's Bridge.

The vehicle was found in the South Skunk River by a person taking water samples Wednesday morning. The investigation continues in the 1100 block of the Spencer Street, near Monroe.
