BONDURANT — Prairie City-Monroe earned their first victories of the season on Saturday at the Bondurant-Farrar tournament.
The Mustangs defeated West Marshall and Des Moines Roosevelt in straight sets, but ended the day with a 2-4 mark at the tournament.
PCM started play with three losses to Des Moines Christian (13-21, 10-21), Williamsburg (9-21, 11-21) and Waverly Shell-Rock (15-21, 15-21). Mackenzie Clarke had 20 digs in the three matches.
Head coach Mollie Kietges and the Mustangs won their first match of the year by beating West Marshall, 21-16, 21-16. Kayla Jennings had five kills and seven assists for PCM while Katie Vande Wall and Regan Olson both added four kills. Jayci Vos recorded 10 assists in the victory.
A similar cast had another big game in PCM's win over Roosevelt (24-22, 21-14). Ashley Van Gorp led the way with six kills and two aces. Jennings posted seven assists and two aces while Vos had four kills and 12 assists. Courtney Van Houweling also contributed five kills and eight digs and Emma Williams was pefect (11-11) serving.
PCM ended the day with a loss to Davis County (16-21, 16-21). Van Houweling, Vande Wall and Jennings all had three kills and Vos had eight assists.
The Mustangs (2-8) play tonight at Carlisle at 7:15.
