Newton Police Department

• Tyler J. Annis, 20, of Newton is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Wal-Mart at 6:25 p.m. Aug. 20. Officers spoke with a loss prevention employee, who stated Annis tried to conceal a stylus pen from the electronics section in his pants. The pen was valued at $2.98. He was cited and released to appear in court.

• Deborah K. Krier, 54, of Newton is charged with domestic abuse/assault and possession of marijuana after authorities were called to 732 First Ave. E. at 10:30 p.m. Aug. 20. Officers were called to a domestic assault in progress between Krier and another resident at the house. Krier admitted to throwing a 2-by-4 board at the victim over a dispute about cigarettes. Krier also was found to have a small baggie of marijuana on her at the time. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Stephanie N. Parrish, 34, of Newton is charged with driving under suspension after authorities pulled over her vehicle in the 300 block of Iowa Speedway Drive at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17. She was cited and released to appear in court.

• Jozsef Schell, 59, of Ontario, Canada, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called to Wal-Mart at 11:57 p.m. Aug. 20. Officers found Schell at Wal-Mart, where he admitted to taking a battery charger out of a drill case. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Dylan R. Stoulil, 18, of Newton was arrested on a Jasper County warrant for interference after authorities located him at 614 S. Fourth Ave. W. at 6:39 p.m. Aug. 18. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jerry E. Wilfawn Jr., 30, of Newton is charged with first-degree harassment, assault on a peace officer and domestic assault after authorities were called to 625 N. Second Ave. W. #C at 1:53 p.m. Aug. 20. Officers were called regarding a domestic assault and observed the victim had visible injuries of bruising and abrasions on the eye, throat and arms after being punched, kicked and choked until the victim passed out. Wilfawn also was charged for assaulting an officer and threatening to kill him. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• A 17-year-old juvenile is charged with possession of alcohol under age after authorities were called to 2800 N. Fourth Ave. E. at 12:45 a.m. Aug. 18. Officers were making a stop in connection to another case when they noticed a juvenile in the car smelling of alcohol. The juvenile admitted to drinking and had a BAC of .07. The juvenile was cited and released to appear.
