Newton Police Department

• Jamison E. Poe, 22, of Newton was charged with serious domestic assault after authorities were called at 2:23 a.m. July 20 to 821 S. 13th Ave. E. #5B. Poe was accused of punching his brother, causing a cut to his left eye. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Jacob R. White, 24, of Newton was charged with third-degree sexual abuse involving a 12-year-old female at 7:26 p.m. July 17. The victim’s parents filed a report after they learned of the alleged abuse through her Facebook page. The abuse was said to have taken place since January 2014, multiple times a month. The victim was seen by a doctor at the Newton Clinic and made statements regarding the abuse. White was released to appear in court.

• A 17-year-old Newton male was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him at 9:23 p.m. July 15 in the 700 block of East Fourth Street South for having an inoperable headlight. He was released to appear in court.
